Task Manager #
Task Manager provides valuable insight into how your computer is utilizing system resources. High memory (RAM), CPU, and/or Disk usage will cause everything on your computer to run slow and programs to crash.
Below are three ways to open your Task Manager: #
Taskbar #
The easiest way to open your Task Manager is:
- Right-click any open space on your taskbar.
- Select“Task Manager”.
Start Menu #
You can click on your Start Menu and search “Task Manager” to open it.
Ctrl+Alt+End #
Pressing the Ctrl+Alt+End keys simultaneously opens the Windows Security screen, providing options including running the Task Manager.
RAM information: #
Computers load your programs into the systems memory (RAM) when you start the program. The more tasks your program performs, the more RAM your system needs for the program to run successfully without crashing. High memory (RAM) usage will cause everything on your computer to run slow and programs to crash.
CPU information: #
A Comupters CPU is what processes each task a program is working on. Spikes in CPU usage are normal when opening programs, but continuous high CPU usage will cause your computer to run slow and programs to crash.
